Gabriel Agreste is the main antagonist of the Miraculous Ladybug and Cat Noir series. He is also the former holder of the Butterfly Miraculous, which he used to fight alongside Marinette Dupain-Cheng (as Ladybug) and Adrien Agreste (as Cat Noir). He is often seen with his daughter, Nooroo, who can akumatize into a dewdrop and fly around the world like an owl. He is the master of disguises and can create holograms to trick the heroes. He is a fashion designer who was once married to Emilie Agreste, who mysteriously disappeared after using the Peacock Miraculous.
After Emilie’s disappearance, Gabriel Agreste became obsessed with obtaining the Ladybug and Cat Noir Miraculouses. During his search, he discovers that the kwami who partnered with Emilie had a special jewel that allowed her to create deputized supervillains. Gabriel then steals the Jewel of the Guardian and tries to use it to akumatize the heroes, but he is defeated by both Cat Noir and Ladybug. He is then forced to resign as the Guardian and take up his position as a fashion designer.
As a fashion designer, Gabriel has many talents that he teaches his son Adrien. He is very skilled in fencing and plays the piano well. He can also speak Japanese and other languages fluently. He has a keen eye for style and is always on the lookout for new trends in fashion. He is also very knowledgeable about butterflies and their habitats.
When he is not working on his latest fashion line, Gabriel is a vigilante superhero known as Hawk Moth. As the name suggests, he uses his fashion sense and powers to defend those who cannot help themselves. He also uses his skills in disguise to evade capture and bring justice to those who deserve it.
He is extremely quick and strong enough to easily overpower both Ladybug and Cat Noir. He has a natural instinct for a good fight, and he is able to quickly analyze his enemies to decide which tactics will work best in a battle. He is very skilled in both close-quarter and long range combat, as well as using the environment to his advantage.
One of his weaknesses is that he tends to underestimate people. This has been especially apparent when he tries to taunt the heroes for being young and they prove him wrong by easily beating his akumatized supervillains. He is also prone to celebrating too soon when his plans succeed.
Like all Miraculous holders, Hawk Moth has a Miraculous tool, which in his case is a cane. The cane acts as his primary weapon in battle. It allows him to akumatize and create deputized villains and project a hologram of himself in order to communicate with large groups of people. He also has the ability to use a single akuma multiple times, which allows him to multiply the power of any deputized villain he creates. Hawk Moth can also summon and control the akumatized villains that are frozen inside his cane, which gives him the ability to form an army.
