Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir Season 4 Announces

The hit animated series Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir has been a wild ride since its debut, but the show isn’t done yet. Netflix recently announced that it would be adding a new season and 2020 special to its lineup, meaning fans will have a chance to see how the story evolves from its French origins.

Netflix will be adding the new season and the 2020 special to its streaming lineup on March 12th, bringing both to its US audiences. The US version will also have a lot of the same actors, including Cristina Vee and Bryce Papenbrook, as well as the main voice cast of Ladybug and Cat Noir. It’s unclear at this time if Netflix will also add the main movie from this year, but given how well the previous one performed, it would make sense.

Season 4 starts off with a bang as a famous comedian gets akumatized into Psycomedian, a sentimonster who is able to impose emotions on people. It then moves on to Marinette and her friends protesting a square being deforested in Paris, where they get caught by Mayor Andre Bourgeois and end up being akumatized as well. The two heroes have to take on a very difficult task in order to protect not just the square, but all of Paris.

As the season continues, we get to see more of how Adrien and Marinette’s relationship has been evolving over time. Despite the fact that she likes him, he doesn’t seem to appreciate the value of her friendship and seems to be more interested in pursuing his own relationship with Lila, even though it’s clear that she’s not over him.

Eventually, he ends up smashing public property in an attempt to make up for it and gets caught by the police. He then tries to force himself on her, but Marinette isn’t having it and makes him give up his kookiness.

Later on, the pair meets up with Luka at a job fair, where he’s working as a TV host. Seeing how he’s belittling the other vendors, it causes him to be akumatized into Wishmaker, a sentimonster who forces the people of Paris to live their dreams against their will. This prompts Adrien to use his Snake Miraculous again and become Cat Noir for the first time.

As the season progresses, we start to see more and more of how the other temp heroes are developing as well. But it’s hard to get invested in them when we keep getting episodes that push the idea that Cat Noir is unreliable and can’t be trusted. While he does have good intentions, it’s still hard to get behind an attitude that makes him sound more bratty than anything else. And it never seems to address the issue of him knowing all of the other heroes’ identities (Optigami, Sentibubbler). That doesn’t seem like an approach that will last long-term.
